X-men DOFP brings back director Bryan Singer as well as much of the original cast to tell a story loosely based off of the comic with the same name. Overall the film succeeds in bringing the X-men franchise back to the look and feel of the first two X-men films. DOFP has an expansive cast, but still manages to do a good job giving them all something to do. Other than a few hiccups with the plot DOFP is a great summer movie, with some truly amazing set pieces, in particular the Quicksilver prison break. It is smart, funny and very entertaining; well worth your time.
Overall: 8.5 out of 10
PS: If you are a fan of the comic stay after credits for a very exciting post credits scene and if you are not you will have some homework afterwards.

Godzilla in short is one of the best disaster movies ever made. It is well shot, with a solid plot and structure, which builds towards a satisfying conclusion. The cast is pretty good across the board, with motivations that all make sense and work well together. I only have two real issues with the film. First the main character always seems to be in the right place at the right time to the degree that it hurts your ability to suspend your disbelief. And secondly I would have liked to have seen a little more of the big green guy. Overall though the film works very well, especially as a modern day post 9/11 disaster movie.
A solid summer flick 8 out of 10
